We were asked to do a short film based on what we have learnt.The main things being Match on action, 180 degree rule and Shot reverse shot. The task was to make a film of someone walking through a door and walking across an area to have a short conversation with someone using all the techniques above.We did this by using the door into our classroom were Curtis walked through the door to have a conversation with me and Ben doing the filming by using our plan of the shot types and techniques we had previously made. By doing this this helped us understand Match on action, 180 Degree rule and short reverse shot and why they are used.
             I have learnt that Match on action is an editing technique that cuts one shot to another shot still portraying the action of the first shot.I have now understood that this needs to be done to create a sense on continuity.I have also learnt that the 180 degree rule is the camera angle and that it is important to keep to this rule as it helps the audience have a greater sense of location this is also used in conversation and shot reverse shot. I have also learnt hat shot reverse shot is used to show characters having conversations as it is used to show what character is looking at. We did this by using shots like over the shoulder shot and mid shots.Next time we intend to make our editing more accurate , create a more mysterious feel and possibly different actors/ actresses!

Final cut express first impressions

i found final cut express hard to work i thought it was hard to find the tools to edit film.i also found it confusing to work all the different short cuts . however i got more use to the programme as we did more editing . i found it easy to drag shots and to cut the scenes. i also found putting the transitions in easy but over all i found this tricky to work as it was not clear where all the different tools where and what they did.

Final Cast

As i wanted to use gore and blood effects i asked my friend Rosie to help do hair and makeup for the shoot as she is currently studying theatrical makeup at college.however she proved to be very good actress as well as make up artist. Fortunately this was good for me. We held a small shoot to see how the make up was created and how good at acting she was. I had previously been to her star in our village plays. I have also seen her star in many other plays and short films so i knew she would be very suitable for the task. As She was not blonde however i do not think this will matter as the scream queen in babysitter wanted is brunette. As she is not blonde i will need to emphasis the other factors such as objectifying body parts and making he 'sexually available'.



The killer i had previously been in my previous attempts as i didnt need him to do a lot in this i asked my brother to be in afew scenes where i couldnt be the killer. I am going to be the killer for the cellar shots as i have done this before then i can get exactly what i want. For the longer takes i will ask joe to do this i will need him to wear black clothes and walking boots which i know he has.

These are my only characters in my opening so i was able to choose them well and choose my scream queen more successfully making sure she fit what i wanted perfectly.

Desired Cast and characteristics

For my Cast i will need 2 people. I will need someone to be the Scream queen. For this to be effective i will need them to be attractive , blonde and busty. I will use this stereo type from many of slashers such as scream , psycho and halloween. It is important that the scream queen fits this stereotype as i want my video to be a classic slasher film.

having this also brings in males and is commonly known throughout this genre.




For the killer would like a male to play the part however as you wont see the there face i dont think it matter who they are. I will need them to wear black clothing however and to be tall. As you will see some body parts and them walking it is important they are male as my film has intertextual references with Babysitter wanted this also need to relate to this.

Set up

As furniture is stored in this room i had to move this and moved a table into the corner so i could get the old wall and cobwebs in shot. as there was no floor this was hard as we had to balance the table on severl things to get it even. For the tool box scene i also had to move the table and set dress this with the different props i needed. i also needed to set up so rosie was able to lay on the table without having her head off the table but able have her body and legs on.
i also needed to set up the candles in the appropriate places to set the room and put around the table and room to give it a candle lit light.

Costumes and Make up

Rosie did her own makeup with her kit she uses for college. she used fake blood and her different coloured powder to create bruises and bruised eyes. She also used blood clots to make the blood on scars look more realistic.

In the video this was very effective and the blood and makeup was very effective as it stood out and was very eye catching. It was also very realistic and creates a lot of intertextuality with the babysitter wanted.






Costumes
for the killer i want him to wear all black to build the narrative enigma and to create a mysterious character. I also wanted to not show his face for these reasons. I also wanted him to wear leather gloves so this would also build the narrative enigma. I also want him in walking boots to signify he is a normal character and could be anyone and perhaps match the idea of he tool box to be a handy man sort of character in his shed or cellar.

Costumes for the scream queen for the stalking scene will be tight clothes such as leggings and a strappy top with tight hoody. I also will her having a lot of makeup on for this stage and have fashionable clothes on so teens in target audience can relate to this. Costumes for the torture scene will be revealing having her in knickers and a stroppy clothes so you can see her being sexually available this also has let me objectify body parts and relates strongly to my films i have chosen it to have links with.

Rough cut 1

Rough cut 1 i have tried to use a variety of different effects for stalking scene. I have used effects such as sepia black and white and coloured effects. I wanted to try to see what was most effective and appropriate. As this is a basic cut there are a lot of improvements to make such as the editing music and titles to add.
